Aikido is a Japanese word written in three characters, which means "the Way of unifying (with) life energy" (ai: joining, unifying, combining, fit, ki: spirit, energy, mood, morale, do: way, path).

Aikido was created by Morihei Ueshiba, who was over the world, known as O-Sensei (Great Master). During the training practitioners learn a part of Japanese culture and they learn about the atmosphere which should prevail in an aikido dojo. Where there are no enemies, but are partners. Where the point is to make you feel at all happy to leave the dojo and the people are pleased to complete the workout.
Aikido is a martial art tradition holds that it fits into the busy lives of today's modern world, religious and social structures, regardless. Aikido techniques are very diverse. Practitioners learn to Ken (wooden sword), Jo (wooden stick) and Tanto (wooden knife) use of the unarmed techniques.
There are no competitions in Aikido and it’s underlying conceptual framework couldn’t be due to competition. Everyone in their own abilities and expectations correctly implement practices, age and capabilities.
So it does not develop a well-characterized competitive sports: "The talent people dealing the coach, while someone else is not ..."
